Short Bio of Cyndi PhilkillPresident, of Equipped to Serve
I started my vocational life as a junior high school art teacher in the inner city of Baltimore after graduating from Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1974.
In 1980 I began volunteering at the Greater Baltimore Crisis Pregnancy Center (GBCPC) and eventually served as the Executive Director of the GBCPC for 13 years.
In 1993 I received my Master of Science Degree from Johns Hopkins University in Organization Development and Training.
The Equipped to Serve Volunteer training manual was written while working at the GBCPC after I completed my Master of Science Degree and was first published in 1994.
Equipped to Serve, Inc. was started in 1995 after leaving my position as Clinical Director at a Pregnancy Center in Michigan when the demand for manuals and training began rapidly increasing.
I have been on seven mission trips to Africa since 2001, visiting the countries of South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
I am a wife, sister, aunt, artist, friend, trainer and most recently have happily become a great aunt. You can view a short video-bio on my website on this page.
